I want to remove credit card from public mobile without closing my account.

If I have to close the account to do it, I will. I am tired of public mobile so this could be the last straw...

How do I remove my credit card number?

you don't have to close the account to do it, just need to ask PM and they will remove for you. But after you removed the credit card, you have will have to pay by voucher

to ask support to remove credit card, just open ticket with PM using the Orange Chatbot icon on the lower right. (For 2FA when login, you might need to use email to receive if you cannot receive the text on the phone.) Type the question Submit ticket and select Contact Us to get to ticket open screen

simple...just log in to your account and disable Subscribed. That will stop autopay. To totally scrub cc, you must message Customer Support. Use this link...
