I am new to Public (account is 24 hours old). Everything now working except RCS texting.

says “waiting for activation”.

I have read that it can take a few days to activate or am I doing something wrong?

Rcs is with data/internet not text messages (sms).

Have you tried restarting your device since number porting was completed?

Yes. I made a typo. Should have stayed “cannot send text messages from iPhone to non iPhone users)
