3G switch to 5G?

I’ve been a long time user of public mobile. Originally 3G only but since paying for 5G what do I need to do to get 5G? I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max.
Any help would be appreciated in advance.

Hello @Koa

iPhone 11 Pro Max does not support 5G. You require a 5G phone. iPhone 12 or newer all have 5G. However, you have to think of things from this perspective. Yes, you're limited to 4G speeds and don't let anyone tell you different. The thing for you is the size of the data bucket. That to me is more important than a 100-150 mbps faster rate.

You'll need a new phone as the iPhone 11 series devices are incapable of connecting to any 5g network. The good new is how the 5g network isn't actually required to get the full speeds of Public Mobile's 5g plans.

Sorry @computergeek541 , I just want to make sure I got this correct. You're saying that the OP can use their 4G iPhone on Public Mobile's 5G network/5G plan and still get up to 250mbps speeds?

yes @Chalupa_Batman , using a 4G phone can also get 250Mbps with a 5G plan, but that depends on the phone

iPhone 11 Pro itself has a top speed of 1.6Gbps, but you won't see that top speed in US or Canadian networks

While the original LTE offers speeds up to 100Mbps, but it can go up to 1000Mbps with newer phones and with the help of the network

but older iPhone models like 5s, 6, or SE have a slower 4G speed , between 10Mbps to 12.8Mbps

So, again, OP's iPhone 11 can reach close to the the 250Mpbs that offers by the 5G speed plan
