Another complaint; why is customer service in general on Public just so unhelpful?

My bill date is Jan 1st

They owe me an account credit so I sent them a PM to credit account

CS agent writes back that its not close enough to my bill date yet (I mean really???)

I respond since we both know end of month is Christmas + Boxing Day + New Years wouldnt it be better to just credit account NOW vs the hassle of me contacting them during the holidays (short staffed) and busy time (activation rush presume they do another promo)

His reply is nope re-send me the request on or about Dec 25th and it should be processed before your Jan 1st bill date....

WHY

You cant refund prepay balances right? Why not just process the request now and save us both the hassle later

(vs if they miss my bill payment and I overpay them and then need to wait until next bill date)
