this happens with all carriers. I've found that if I don't answer a call that I don't recognise the caller number...eventually those spam callers quit calling me. If it's a legit call, they can leave a message and I'll call them back.

I've been doing the same as @hairbag1 and it seems to have been helping. There might be 3rd party apps that you can install on your phone but I haven't had to go that far. The other option is to change your number as Public Mobile allows changing it up to 4 times in a month.

spam calls like junk mail, nothing much you can do other to ignore it, or add to the block list on your phone (but it will still forward to voicemail)

So, there is really nothing much you can do, and no need to waste time reporting it either

that Do not call list is only for legitimate business not to call you for marketing calls, but for spammers and scammers that is no use

unfortunately this happens to everyone now, there are a lot of fake/spam calls and texts in todays world, happens to every carrier/service. You can go into your phone and individually block the numbers if they repeatedly call/text you, but there is no way to 100% prevent new random numbers from calling.
Personally, i just dont answer any number i dont recognize/have saved in my phone, and will contact them back if they leave a voicemail/text.

@Jackall You can change your phone settings to allow calls/message notifications from contacts only. It doesn't stop them altogether, the calls will still go to voicemail. If you have an iPhone running ios17/18 then you can use Live Voicemail, which means you don't have to go in to your carrier voicemail all the time, the message is transcribed while you watch and you can decide whether to answer it or not. You don't have to dial in to your carrier voicemail.
