Hi,

i’m switching from koodo to PM and have opened my account, selected my plan and given my credit card info. My next step is to download the app and follow the activation steps to port my current number. Here is where I have questions and would like to check here before actually doing it.

i have 2 phones, a XS max which has koodo’s esim activated, and a 15 pro max that I will start using (currently no esim attached). Can I activate my PM account and set up the esim on my new phone directly? Or do I have to activate PM’s esim in my old phone as it has to be on the same phone (xs max) where the current provider’s sim is at, and then purchase another esim for the new 15 pro max?

thanks in advance!

Julia

Thanks for your help!

I was in the middle of activating on the new phone until I saw the below 4 checkboxes which have to be all checked off to proceed. I’m unclear about the 2’nd one which is not checked. It asks if your previous provider’s esim is in your device.
My previous provider’s esim is in one of my devices but not in THIS device that I want to start to use. Just wanted to double check before I check the 2nd box off and proceed further. I had a really bad experience with koodo earlier about transferring esims to the new device so I’m a bit paranoid right now. Sorry about that, and again, really appreciate your help and patience!

Thanks for your help and I completely agree with you on the physical sim card. I had to switch to esim, very unwillingly, because I bought an open box 15 on Amazon and only learned that it’s a US version with no physical slot after I received it. So I have no options but using esim on the new phone.

Thanks! First of all I wanted to report back that the activation was a success so thank you and the other gentleman for the help. Second, I want to ask further about esims’ cost with PM.

koodo’s esims cannot be transferred between iphones by using iphone’s built in esim transfer option, so basically one would have to purchase a new esim at $11.50 for the new phone, While (i think) Telus supports the iphone transfer and also offers free esims for new phones in case the transfer didnt work. Given that PM is another budget provider under Telus, like Koodo, and on PM’s bill it says the esim costs $5 (though i got it for free today as part of the black friday deal), I was wondering how it is with PM when comes to switching phones. Does PM support iphone esim transfer? You mentioned no cost for a replacement esim, which is a pleasant surprise, but even if it’s $5, it’s still way better than koodo.
