Hi everyone, just wanted to see if anyone has had a chance to try out the new data coverage in Mexico recently - I know it’s routed back to Telus but just wanted to confirm. Thinking of upgrading my plan to the $35 CAN US MEX deal for Black Friday but I don’t need this much data… is the data quality good in Mexico as well? Thanks.

Considering it will be on the AT&T network and the same set up as Telus, it should work great. They just launched this roaming service in Mexico so we didn't see much feedback as of yet. But you can browse Telus forums or reddit to see how things are.

There are never surprise charges with Public Mobile because it's a prepaid service. You still need to turn data roaming on if you're going to the US or Mex, as you are still roaming (even if there are no additional charges).

Replying to myself for visibility - as I am now in Mexico/ Cancun, can confirm it’s with AT&T and works very well along the strip and inside the hotel room where wifi is spotty because it’s far away from the lobby (most of these hotels are structured like this). However, I do see only 1-2 bars of signal at the airport initially and assuming that’s the case in rural areas as well. Just make sure you’re in somewhat populated areas with roaming on and you will be very happy with so much data when everyone else seems to be struggling. Good plan solid coverage glad I upgraded. Both mobimatter and Airalo are much more expensive on a per GB scale.

Canada-us-mexico plan $35 Joined last week

I just arrived at Mexico Cancun today and turned on the data roaming, the network provider is AT&T while my friend who has the same plan automatically connected to Moviestar (not aure why it's different with mine) the data is working really great so far!!
