You cannot freeze your subscription without paying anything.

As explained by @Handy1 you will have to pay at least every 3 months to keep your number and account going into suspension and back to active for 30 days (after paying for 1 period).

If number is not important to you it might be better to cancel service completely (UNLESS you have Great plan) and then when you are back to subscribe again (as they could be better promos and/or offers, plans).

Obviously the choice is yours, but might not be worth it for such a long time. Assuming you are on the cheapest plan currently, it will still add up as you would need to make payments to keep the account active as already provided in below instructions.

But if you've had your phone number for decades like me, then it's worth it.

One option is to port your number to Fongo and port it back when you return but you will need a new SIM when you return. SIM are one time use and it will be useless once you port out.

You might wanna look at activating that plan, then port your number to new plan. Then when you get back to Canada, you can decide whether or not to continue with Telus or port back to PM with a new plan altogether. Here's a link to look over that plan and many others.

https://www.telus.com/en/mobility/prepaid/plans
