Hey,

I switched from Telus to Public Mobile yesterday. I have always had terrbile reception at my house with Telus (an issue with the cellphone tower in the region). However when I drive to work, if my phone had no network connection it would always reconnect to Telus once I got a block from my house. However today with public mobile (the first time I have had it) when I drove to work , I got to work and found that my phone was still not connected to the network (I always get very good signal strength at work). The only way I could get it to connect to the network was to restart the phone. Once I did this it has stayed connect while at work since. But I wonder if this will be an on going issue or a one time thing; but, it is worth noting I have never needed to do this when I was with Telus.

-B

Telus and Public Mobile use the same network, so maybe it was a one off thing and hopefully doesn't happen again. Your coverage should be exactly the same as when you had Telus.

I too have noticed that re-connection attempts are taking longer than I was used to with previous carriers and sometimes requier my intervention (airplane mode etc). Is this normal?

While I'm replying, can anyone explain how to make a new thread in the community? I'm ashamed to admit that I've only found the reply button.

My phone tends to connect within 2-3 seconds when I emerge from underground or no network spot. Could be device specific. Generally, a new sim card takes longer to connect initially and then it settles down as per my experience with diferent sim cards in different countries.

@pubmobnewb, scroll to the section you wish to make a new thread in.. such as "Discussion", "Getting started", etc

Then just below the graphic banner on the left side you will see text highlighted "New message". Click it and you can start your new thread in that section.

So after a few days it has happened a couple of times where the phone once it is disconnected from the network it will not reconnect. Only a reset or toggling airplane mode will get the phone to reconnect to the network. Any suggestions @Mary_M ?
