US Roaming Talk Text Add On not working

I have a friend traveling in the US now. He has an Android phone and bought the "US Roaming-Talk Text 15 day" Add On several days before traveling. We went over the settings he would have to change earlier. While in the US we texted each other to confirm he :

1 Turned on "Roaming"

2 Manually changed phone provider to AT & T

3 Restarted phone and confirmed phone provider had changed to AT & T

If he calls me it just rings ( at his end ) several times then disconnects. If I call him it goes to voicemail.

I have asked him when he can to log into his Public Mobile Account to confirm the Add On.

Any assistance from the community until then would be appreciated.

what phone he has?

Step 2 and 3, try changing the network to T-Mobile and test

depends on the phone, VoLTE might or might not work. What phone does he have?

he can change the network to T-Mobile and change the mode to 2G and test calling again

Thanks slusagm for reaching out. He has an older (4 or 5 years not sure of model) MotoG. I'll ask him to try T-Mobile

his Moto G might not be able to use VoLTE with PM service

these are the only Moto G compatible with PM VoLTE

Motorola Moto g 5G (S2SA32.1-54 & above)
Motorola Moto g power (2022) (S3RQ32.20-42-10 & above)
Motorola Moto g pure (S3RH32.20-42-10 & above)
Motorola Moto g stylus 5G (2022) (S2SD32.21-85-3 & above)

when he try T-Mobile, see if he can change network mode to 2G

here's the short list of Moto G's that PM has chosen to enable volte. If it's not on that list, his talkability could be severly limited whilst in US.

If you cant get the phone to work. Have him download an app such as textnow and use that instead.
