Correct answers given, just adding info that may help.

When you're down in the US, if you have problems connecting and things aren't working, your phone network may be set to automatic. If that is the case, turn off automatic and pick T-Mobile. Then make sure data roaming is also turned on and then reboot the phone. Depending on your location you're travelling to, if T-Mobile doesn't work for you, the other two options will be AT&T and now Verizon Wireless. Enjoy your trip.

Yes . If your plan states Canada and USA data and calling it should work in the USA. Connect to AT&T and turn on roaming.

And just to put further clarity on it, @marvinclaudette , at pre-paid services such as here at Public Mobile, there's never any overages or surprise charges for services.

That's because you only get what services and provisions which were prepaid before needing the service.

Unlike post-paid services, one can normally use a service and they find out how much that service cost them on their next monthly bill.

That's not the case here - if the service wasn't paid for and included, it just won't work.

I recently travelled to the States and my phone had trouble connecting to a US carrier (it was frequently connecting and then disconnecting). I ended up turning off 'Automatically select network' and selecting T-Mobile.
