I recently bought an eSIM adapter to use in my non-eSIM Moto g Stylus 5g. The adapter comes with its own app to install eSIMs. I've installed the adapter and everything shows as compatible.

When I try to buy an eSIM, PM tells me that my device in incompatible. I'd like to buy an eSIM and download it to see if I can activate it through the eSIM app. How can I do that?

My app will read a QR code. I just installed one that way to the adapter for an upcoming overseas trip. I just need to get the Public Mobile QR Code somehow. I thought of using another phone (an eSIM compatible iPhone) to purchase it, but I don't want it installed on the iPhone.

@CannonSt wrote:

I thought of using another phone (an eSIM compatible iPhone) to purchase it, but I don't want it installed on the iPhone.

this is definitely a workaround, but you have to stop the automatic esim installation at the right time. Then you will get the QR code from the Welcome email and you can scan to install. But again, if you missed that step, the esim would got installed on the other phone and you will need to use the PM app to "re-buy" a new esim. Could be a tricky process

Very confusing , the first reply sound more plausible. (Ie. The PM' s auto install needs to be stop or proceed before the QR code gets scanned! And I don't know how to do that?
