Hi,

Does PM (or telus in general) allow us to use our SIM card in a 4g router device? I've been using the hotspot feature on my phone but it drains the battery fast. I picked up a 4g router that supported the same bands as public mobile and it reads the SIM fine, tells me my phone number, etc. However it never gets a connection. I've done deep diving on the forums and the APN is set right, and I've even changed the DNS server to a oublic mobile one.

At this point I assume it's blocked by the carrier. Anyone know?

The unit is discontinued now, so if you are looking for a successor, make sure that its bands are compatible with Public Mobile's (most of these units on, say, Amazon are not compatible with NA providers. If I can't check the bands I'm staying away from the product.)

You'll need to manually set the APN on the router web portal. We also used EverSafe's e-mail option to get account access codes for that line.
