Why can't I use a hotspot? I'm getting a message to contact public mobile.

I'm Canadian and I'm in the U.S.A. trying to connect to my family memebers hotspot. The person with the hotspot has a roaming account with another company. Please Help!

Public Mobile doesn't restrict hotspot usage. What model device is being used?

@MarieChristine, the mobile hot spot that you access will act as a wifi so you should be able to access the internet for browsing or streaming YouTube, Netflix etc. but you won't be able to make calls or send out text messages (I believe you should be able to receive calls and receive text messages)

Disable your mobile data, connect to the hotspot using WiFi, select his hotspot name, enter password.

you can access data only, no incoming or outgoing calls or texts

this is not a problem with PM. Either your phone wifi problem but more likely a problem with your family member's phone or his roaming carrier blocked hotspot
