Sorry, but there is no roaming available in the UK. Roaming is only avaialble in the US.

You need to purchase a local SIM in the UK for your phone to work.

Or use WhatsApp or the Fongo app for free wifi calling and texting.

I used giffgaff. They mailed me a free SIM card to Canada, so I was able to set up my account before departure, and had service when I stepped off the plane. No searching strange airports or malls for a retailer. They also include EU roaming. Cost starts about $8 for a month. Compare to what we pay here!

Agree with BNKS27; Fongo for free calls back to Canada.

Someone asked if this would work if they started in the EU; it's a UK company. I started in the Republic of Ireland (EU), and had no issue.

No, you can go online at Giffgaff website and order a SIM card and they will mail it to you and then you put it in your unlocked phone. You good to go…
