You get an esim right away. Jus make sure you check that your phone is compatible with esim

Yes, from the PM app go to "Account" and you should see "Purchase SIM card" where you can select eSIM. I think it currently shows it as being $5 but if you already have an eSIM I'm quite sure it will not charge you for another one.
