topic Rate increase in Get Support

Why has my monthly rate gone up from $13 and change per month to just under $23 a month since the change over in the rewards program. I have been with Public Mobile for 6 years and was earning rewards each month for loyalty, prepaid, etc. and now it seems it has all vanished! I am not happy. Is this how we treat a loyal customer? If it is a mistake, what can I/ we do to fix this issue? I would like to remain with Public Mobile, but if this is the new monthly fee I will be forced to look elsewhere. Please let me know as soon as possible as my account has already been charged with the new rate without so much as a warning. This is not fair.

Thank-you for your attention

@Anthony123451

you might have missed the announcement back in March regarding the change of rewards system

PM retired the old reward system this month (May) and everyone migrated on the new Public Points system.
https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/bc/get-help/articles/move-to-public-points

With this new system, you pay the full amount first (with the Available Funds on your My Account or via your credit/debit card on the system), and hence you see a higher charge now.
Then PM will give you the points to your point account after renewal within 48 hours. Once you collected 15 points, you can redeem $15 bill payment yourself to bring the next payment down. Or you can also use points to buy add-ons with a discounted price

For how to earn points with Public Points,

you will get the same friend referral, 1 point (= $1) for every referral every month.

Instead of $2 autopay, you earn 5% point of your spending in points (plan renewal or add-on purchrases).

Instead of loyalty rewards, you will earn 10 points on your Anniversary date every year

You will still earn Give-Back rewards by participating in the Community. Everyone has a chance to earn can 1/2/5/10/15/20 points depends on the overall participation of the month

I have to admit Public Points rewards is not as good as the Legacy rewards system, but you are still saving money, just in a slower pace

Here is more information about the rewards system migration:
https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/bc/get-help/articles/public-points

Paying more isn't really "saving slower". Right away, there's the $2/year increase, and its still not clear how something like $5/month Loyalty would reflect in the points.

@arahman6172 Loyalty going forward will be 10 points annually, and the $2 monthly autopay is no more. You just get 5% in points value on your payments (e.g. 1.70 a month on the $34 plan) and referrals stay the same at 1 point/$1. Then you have to log in and redeem the points when you have enough for whatever you want to buy, either bill credit or discounted add on. Some of us have only ever been on the points system having joined PM since it was implemented two years ago. It's a big change and understandably frustrating for long time customers but there is still a savings.
