I ordered a new sim card and that card is malfunctioning. It randomly stops working. I have 3 unlocked phones and it malfunctions in all of them. I am requesting a new sim. It's about 2 weeks old and it has given me the message "no sim card installed" at least 50 times. If you restart the phone it sometimes works. Most times you have to open the tray and move the sim around. I have had my old sim for 4 years never did this once.

Have you sent a message to the Moderators to request a replacement SIM card?

@Scottrenouf What SIM size card are you using in your phone? Public Mobile SIM card is Nano that sits inside cutout frames for Micro and Standard SIM cards. Sometimes, if you are using Micro or Standard, Nano SIM card might not sit flat inside the frames, which could cause issues. Take SIM card out, put on hard surface and press on it, to make sure it is flat. Carefully insert it back and retest.

It is a nano and it sits flat. I have it out several times now. I was thinking that It might have a uneven edge but that's not it either. Like I said tried it in my apple 6, s7 and Samsung prime 3. It does the same thing in all 3.

Thank you

Intermittent failure could be caused by faulty electrical contact.

Use some isopropyl alcohol to clean the "gold" contacts on the SIM card. Preferably electrical-grade isopropyl, but any kind without perfumes/additives (which might leave a conductive residue) should be fine.

Also clean the contacts inside the phone's SIM card slot, if you can. It's far more likely to be dirty inside than a fresh new unused SIM card. You may need to "scrub" it some lint-free cloth, a toothbrush, or some wooden toothpicks. Obviously you want to keep external power unplugged and remove the battery until all the liquid has completely dried/evaporated.

Your best bet is probably to order/buy/activate a new SIM card and get it working asap.

Then msg the mods (and flag @CS_Agent attention to this thread) to see if you can get a refund on your ($10) replacement SIM card cost.
