I'm currently upgrading to a plan which states that I can earn up to 2$ in points value. Does this reduce the cost of the plan by 2$ every month ? Is it added to my total rewards? I have 7$ of rewards per month so that would make it 9$. Am I correct?

if you are on the legacy rewards problem, the " earn up to 2$ in points value" does not apply to your account. It is just a marketing statement towards those using Public Points rewards

For you on the legacy rewards, you will still earn the same amoung. So, if you are earning $7 now, you will get the same after plan change

Adding to the above:

Consensus of the legacy customers is: Do NOT get tempted to switch to the new points system! You will not be able to switch back to the legacy $$ rewards, which are in most cases considerably better than points.
