Suspicious Envelope

Today, I have received a suspicious envelope with TELUS KOODO and Public logos on them. When I grabbed the envelope from my mailbox, I noticed that it was slightly ripped in the back. When I opened the envelope, there was a blank piece of paper with a tape stuck on it, but part of it looks ripped off. It's as if something small like a SIM card was taped to the piece of paper and then ripped out. There was nothing else, no text, no logos, nothing at all.

I have not ordered anything from Public Mobile recently, so I was not expecting anything to arrive. Here is a picture of this.

Has anyone received anything similar? Any ideas on what this could be?

That is unusual. I guess the first question I would ask is, who was it made out to? You or someone else?

@Evgeny_S Looks to me like it was a sim card package . Minus the sim as you mentioned . Oh well I wouldn’t be to concerned if you didn’t order one then no harm no foul . Interesting thou all the same thanks for sharing

It has my correct name and address. I am a Public Mobile customer and not a Telus Mobility nor Koodo customer.

Is this how SIM cards are normally shipped though? With absolutely no text at all? If someone can validate that, I think we would call it "mystery solved".

If that's the case, is there a way for someone to connect the potentially stolen SIM to my account/payment method?

@Evgeny_S Yes from PM Koodo and Telus . I just had 4 sims from Telus arrive and those very same envelopes with no text but the SIM card where there

the hard sim comes in a retail package,,,not just taped to a sheet of paper. Sounds like it was sent to you in error.

Yes, I've seen these too. But this was completely different. It's just a strange set of circumstances that I would potentially get a SIM in error, AND it would be stolen as well. Kinda weird..

I ordered a couple of sims and they both came in the packaging as my picture. They must be cutting down on packaging for "efficiency" !!

- Was it addressed to you?
- Did you order anything from Koodo/Telus/PM?
- Maybe somebody cleverly used your address, ordered 'something', waited for mail, took it and you got your empty envelope.
Watch your credit card balance as if 'somebody' managed to get into your mail it can then easily get into your CC account, too.

@Meow Yes, the envelope was address to me (correct name and address). I have not ordered anything from Koodo/Telus Mobility or PM. I strongly suspect that someone may have ordered something in my name and then possibly stole my SIM from the envelope. How do I contact Public Mobile and get them to check this?

So much fraud these days. You have to be very careful as fraudster might have used your name/address (who paid for SIM if that was a SIM included??? (stolen credit card???)) and started a chain reaction of stolen identity.

That address on Aero Drive is close to the Calgary airport.
It’s a third party warehouse.
I have received from that address.

o Public Mobile SIM card

o Telus replacement equipment like TV boxes.

Closing the loop for those that are watching this thread. It turns out that the envelope had nothing to do with Public Mobile at all. It was a Telus related thing that was I able to figure out. False alarm, but I guess it's better to be cautious with these things nowadays. Thanks everyone for your responses!

Thank you for provided clue what happened. You are one of VERY few who follow up to the end of issue. Usually people ask something, few potential solutions are provided and we never hear which one worked or not.
