@SS9 No that’s just for making calls from Canada to abroad , for use in the U.S. you need US roaming add on or CAN/US plan

those minutes are for use while the call originates in Canad, as others have said. For use in US, you'd need one of the 15 Day US talk/text/data options available in your self service menu

Alternative is to download free voip app such as TextNow. It will use either your local wifi or separately purchased data. Wifi is available in nearly all motels, resort, cafes...including walmart and McD's.
