You can still activate with Public Mobile and receive a new number. You can then port your number into Public Mobile at a later date. Just make sure your account is still active with your old provider when you port your number over.

I just transferred from Koodo to Public. Once the new number was ported over to Public, Koodo sent me an email saying they're sorry to see me go and will prorate my last bill.

SIM are available from a Telus/Koodo store for $10, Amazon for $4.99 but if you order from PM online it may take up to 3 weeks to arrive so plan ahead.

If your phone is eSIM compatible (normally on newer phones from 2022 so check the specs of your phone), it will be free with a new plan and you don’t need to wait for the SIM to arrive.
