I've been receiving unwanted messages and I want to change my number. But my current number is attached to all my online accounts for identification purposes to login. So I ask, is there a way to get a new number, and also get text messages forwarded from my old number to the new one? Just for a couple days while I have a chance to log into all my accounts and update my contact info? Total pain in the butt if I can't receive two-factor authentication texts!!

thanks in advance!

Once you change your old number is available for someone else to use. You will not be able to forward messages. I would just keep the same number and block the number(s) that are sending you those unwanted messages.

No, once you change the number goes back to carrier than the number was originally ported in from. It usually sits in a holding pattern for about 90 days before the numbers gets re-issued to someone else. You can't continue to receive texts from that number after you've changed your number.

@Toddlum The only way I can think of to do it would be if you had a spare phone and were able to set up another PM account (which would involve purchasing another sim card) and then just switch to it when you're done changing your log-ins, or set up a $15 account with another carrier like Koodo (which would again involve paying for another sim card and having a spare phone). With option 1 you would lose your accumulated PM awards on the old account as you would ultimately close it and swap the second phone's sim to your main phone. With option 2 you would port the other carrier number in to your current PM account which would also get rid of the old number. With 2 you would keep your PM rewards.

There might be another way to do it on one phone with a voip app but Fongo, for example, would charge $25 if you ported that new number to your existing PM account to replace your old number before 90 days has passed. This would again involve two numbers and not text forwarding.

You wouldn't happen to have a dual sim phone by chance?

Any of the above is going to have a cost involved so it depends how much you want to spend to achieve your goal. As far as I can figure it is likely to cost around $25 ($10 for sim card and $15 for one month on a lowest cost account).
