Last year I had LOTS of problem with US roaming -- something related to G3 Is this still a problem?

It certainly can be, @nj22 , depending on the capabilities of your device.

Since the US decommissioned the 3G network users here could only call if their device could be switched down to 2G, though some could not. This was exasperated with only having access to T-Mobile, and not AT&T,

Since PM has enabled VoLTE, users can now call with little issue in the US. There's also availability of choosing both T-Mobile and AT&T as a roaming provider now.

However, the stumbling block now is that not all devices are on the VoLTE eligibility list.

I'm addition to the 3G / VoLTE issue, another issue is AT&T 5G doesn't seem to work. Set your Preferred Network to 4G/LTE when in the US.
