Wanting to Deactivate Old SIM Card

I recently had my phone stolen/lost and have since replaced it.

I downloaded an eSim card onto my new phone.

I am ready to resume my plan but want to make sure my old SIM card is deactivated.

How can I do this?

Hello! You can only have one SIM card attached to an account at a time. Once you replace that SIM the old one becomes de-activated and cannot be used again.

Since you’ve already purchased an eSIM that is attached to the account with the stolen SIM that old SIM is now de-activated and cannot be re-used. You can safely resume service if the eSIM was purchased for that same account as it would replace it as soon as the purchase was made.

What can the cell phone vendor do with the old Sim? The sales guy gives me a new sim when I switched and when I asked if I can keep the old one he said yes, gives it to me but then says do you want a bag for it? Takes the sim card with him somewhere in the back and comes back with a baggie. Seems suspect in hindsight. Should I be concerned?
