I will swtich my phone and need to know if i will need to again buy the esim. I did not know i will need to pay again or not. If i have to pay again please cancel my current esim

Yes, eSIM’s are one time use and cannot be transferred from device to device. You will need to purchase another one. You can do this by downloading the app on your intended device, going to the subscription and add-on’s tab and then scrolling down and selecting “Shop SIM card now”.

The fact that you have to rebuy a eSIM every time you switch devices or if you delete the eSIM is its biggest downside when compared to physical SIM cards.

For eSIM with new phone, you have to re-buy a new one for $5.
Yes, while eSIM is "cool", there are disadvantages as well. For eSIM, if you have a new phone, or if you ever wipe your phone, you will have to re-buy a new eSIM again. There is no such problem with Physical sim card.

To rebuy new eSIM, First, download the app on your new phone, click ⊕ or ⧁ at the bottom left to bring up the menu and go to Subscription & Add-on page, scroll down to the bottom and click Shop SIM Card Now. You can buy and install eSIM from there

Add: @masonxiao eSIM is only free for new activation.

I did not know that i will need to buy esim again for my new phone. Can please cancel my esim in this phone. I plan to get my new phone in 2-3 days and then i could activate it. It was not mentioned for which i did not know. Publicmobile should inform that i need to buy again for my new phone. Its not cool at all

so, your already installed the esim on your current phone?

Once installed, there is no going back, the eSIM is tied to that phone and cannot be transferred.

So, wait for your new phone, download the app and order a new eSIM using the app on the new phone, the old one will be cancelled once the new one is ordered and installed

currently the esims are free for new accounts only. For an existing account, customer would pay full price for the esim.

public mobile should reconsider charging for esim. It is stupid practice and doesn't belong to modern mobile provider. And not even rogers/fidofor it.

Really ,it's time to move on.
