US Texting?

I think?? Public used to have a US texting plan? If you were visting the US, you could use this to text in the US and to Canada. I think the cost was something like $10 for a week or $15 for two weeks. Is this or something like this still available?

@GCP You need US roaming add on for that or CAN /US plan . But from home you can text US on the base plans or any international destination

There are plans here that are Can/US services. If you plan on texting or calling the US often or even visiting the US very often, it might be worth jumping on one of those plans. However, if you only plan on going to the US every blue moon, better to purchase a travel package. Another option is you can download a VOIP app like TextNow which offers free texting and calling to/from/while in the US. Granted you'd need data or connection to WiFi.

Looking for cheapest option while in the US with my spouse. So we can text each other while in the US. Also, would like to text family and friends back in Canada. Again, was there??...is there??? a text only plan while in US...I thought there was...pretty inexpensive I thought?

Unlimited U.S. Talk and Text Bundle...$15 for 15 days? Is this correct? Also, what if you're in the Carribbean? Would unlimited international text and picture messaging apply?

Public mobile service is only capable in Canada and the USA.

Outside of these areas you would need to purchase a local prepaid Sim card or use Wi-Fi services.

@GCP - it is said whilst in the USA incoming texts will work if you are on the proper network and there are services where you are, without any special plan or Roaming addons.

Log into your My Account and to to Add-ons, only the ROAMING ones are whilst you are in the USA: https://myaccount.publicmobile.ca/en/account/manage/shop/addons

Only real option to use it outside of Canada and the US is to download a free VOIP program and use WiFi wherever you may go. I've never been to the Caribbean but I'm sure they have a ton of free WiFi there at the hotel and surrounding areas.

@GCP I believe you're referring to US text (unlimited) for $8 (IIRC) that PM used to offer but is no longer available since the updates to this Eversafe system (which I dislike as it's very glitchy/slow) along with doing away with non expiring domestic data.

PM also used to offer unlimited roaming talk for about $8, unfortunately, that's also gone now and the cheapest option for roaming is $15 talk/text (unlimited) for 15 days which is a big improvement vs 10 day roaming options offered previously or you can purchase $15/1GB data roaming instead and use wifi apps for texting/calling purposes, of course.

there used to be a stand alone US text add-on but that's not available any longer. For now, you can get the 15 Day US Roami9ng talk/text bundle for $15. PM has no add-on that will work while you're in Caribbean. If you have wifi, you should download free voip app like TextNow. You'll select a free Cdn number and you can talk / text for gratis using the wifi or separately purchased data. You'll be able to call most any US and Cdn number w/o cost.

I think roaming will work on Puerto Rico and possibly even US Virgin Islands. Guam, Midway too maybe. Maybe some regulars around here that go on Caribbean cruises can check out those two (or otherwise visit there anyway).

You can use TextNow app or WhatsApp for free calling and texting on WiFi if you are in the USA or the Caribbean.

The PM USA Roaming bundles only work in the USA.
