Duplicate Sims

I have a physical sim in my Google Pixel phone now but I would like to install a duplicate esim in my google watch so I can make calls without my cell phone bring nearby. Is that possible and if yes, how much would the esim cost?

@NealVic Sorry you can’t have duplicate sims just one number per account with its own email . You can only Bluetooth the watch to the phone

No such thing as a duplicate sim or esim. What you're wanting to do isn't currently available here. But I would be curious if you could run the watch standalone with its own account.

Just to be clear, I don't want two phone numbers, I want the same phone number for both SIMs. Just want to be able to make calls (like emergency calls) if my phone is not nearby.

@NealVic That’s not an option here you need Telus for that . Even then the watch would get its own number . All you can do here is Bluetooth the watch / phone

Seems that if a modern smartwatch has cell capability that it can dial 911 without paid service. Like a phone can. No sim, nothing - call 911.

Just read up on it. You do need a phone with a 4GLTE option. The watch has the ability to copy the SIM into the watch and use it as a phone without your cell phone bring nearby. You don't need an ESIM, just a working 4G LTE cellphone that is paired with your watch. After the duplication is made, your watch can act as a standalone phone. Neat...

Handy1 you are absolutely right, PM does not offer that option but Telus does.

@NealVic If you were to go to telus and had a plan and wanted to add the watch as you would pay a fee as add on the watch will work away from the phone with its own number that as associated with your number . So that your number shows up when calling someone or texting them . But you can’t just copy the sim onto the watch and use it freely from the phone without paying for that service

I would be really surprised if any provider would give that feature for free.. They might let you do that but afaik they do charge 10$ per month for that service.. On the other hand, are you really ever without your phone and only with your watch? I have smart watch for last 7 years and never needed to make a call with it.

I meant you need a 4GLTE service provider with the 4GLTE option for the smart watch. Here are the requirements:

Google Pixel Watch 4G LTE:

Has a direct connection to your cellular network/carrier plan

Shares a number with your phone so notifications and messages are in sync

Google Pixel Watch LTE does not need its own line. After you pair the watch with your phone and activate the 4G LTE option with a compatible carrier, your watch will share the same mobile number as your phone

Lets you leave your phone at home and still make calls and use apps with your watch. Pixel Watch Google Pixel Watch uses 4G LTE, the current standard for smartwatches.
