Yes, if you use your friend’s referral code, you will get the $10 credit on your second bill and your friend will get 1 point or $1/month credit depending on the Rewards system they are on.

I think I prefer the points system, since I have alot of Referrals it is Guaranteed credit forever.

Other than perhaps discounted add-ons that can be purchased with points, there are virtually no benefits to points over the old rewards system when it comes to refer-a-friend. There's also no guarantee of the program continuing forever or even that the people who you have referred will remain customers.
