Leave your Fido account active, and just port your number over to Public Mobile. Do NOT close your Fido account yourself, as your Fido account needs to be active when you initiate the porting process over to Public Mobile. As others have said, once you port over, your Fido account will be closed automatically with no further action required by you except to check and pay your final Fido bill.

Hi,

when I tried to purchase $35 1G plan, I found the actual price is $37 instead of $35. Will I pay $37 for this plan? What is the $2 autopay reward activated?

I am using fido regular plan, how should I switch to public mobile and keep my fido phone number? Once I get a public mobile SIM card, do I need to close my fido account? Or once I port the number from fido, my account will be automatically closed?

The 35 is after the autopay is applied. The autopay is when you apply for automatic payment from credit card whick is a option on signup.

After obtaining a sim card from Public you activate it and pick a new number. Once the number is working you port over your existing Fido number and the Fido account will automatically close.

@penny1

I can confirm that the $35 is what you will pay after auto-pay. Once you setup you account for the first period, the extra $2 per month goes into account as available funds which will then be applied on your next bill (this only happens your first billing period and payments will only be exactly $35 going forward).

As for porting over your number, I recommend setting up your account with PM using a random number and once your account is up and running, then request a port-in of your number through self-serve (and this will close your Fido account).

Have a read of the following thread for all the do's and don'ts of activating.

https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/Getting-Started/Start-Guide-Setup-Activation-Port-Data/m-p/80123#M13384
