Weird data usage issue

So here's a weird one. I just happened to be checking my data usage figures. (For context, I'm on the $15/mo plan with 250 Mb of data monthly.) The number seemed high, since I'm home most of the time on wifi constantly. I discovered that data is being used on my phone at strange times -- usually the dead middle of the night. Two nights ago, it was 47 Mb at just after 3 a.m. I see now that it's been happening at other times in the middle of the night.

I can assure you that I'm asleep at these times, I'm not using my phone, and my phone is connected to wifi anyway. (And I get notices from my provider if the wifi goes off and comes back on -- that hasn't happened.)

So what gives? 47 Mb out of 250 Mb monthly is no small amount. Why is this happening? Who can make it stop? It would be a pain to have to turn my data off every night and back on every morning.

@steveb11 PM up dates the data usage 2x a day your probable just seeing the log of day you had previously used updating
