4G plan - 5G vs 4G network speedtest

Both from my home at the same location, on a 4G plan. I'll try I'm different locations over the next while, but as-is I think I'm better off on the 4G network.

@DennyCrane I wonder if it might take a couple days for the 5G plan to speed up , as it’s been noted around here one that moves from 3G services to 4G services will have to wait up to 48 hours before the notice a difference in speed … could be the same thing for going to 5G from 4G or even 3G

@DennyCrane , a single speed test does not produce statistically significant data. That said, I would say that if you produced a collection of speed test data points, either of 4G or 5G connection would yield statistically similar results with the local network loading and 100 mbit/s speed limit dictating outcome.

This was a test to see whether 5G network would improve throughput.

But you had 3G or 4G plan before? Your speed seems to be slow even with 4G standard.

I've been on a 4G plan for about 8 months now I think. I agree, these are poor results. Sometimes I get up in the 80's, but for whatever reason today it's not great.

I was also at YVR airport today with perfect signal and only got about 9Mbps down. Not sure what's up today.

Same spot as yesterday, this time a much bigger variance between 4G and 5G (with 4G being the clear winner).
