The only issue with porting a number is usually user error

There are no network outages at the moment

@stonechucker I have a strong suspicion the changes were made due to travellers paying less than what Telus wanted. Visit Canada for a week, get a free SIM card (now $10) & activate a 10 day plan (now 30 day min)

Yes, the porting can be an issue. It's too bad that they took away the old 10-day plans, they were great for trying out the system.

But hey, it's prepaid... no shock charges!!

@Jencho, what carrier did you attempt a port from? I have ported more than a dozen accounts to this service for myself and friends and not once did a port fail. Perhaps you can explain in greater detail your porting woes, the community may be able to share their experiences and provide useful information.

I thought it'd be a hassle porting my phone number from virgin mobile. Surprisingly, it took 30 minutes at most... Surprised to hear people having porting issues... 😕
