Is there a way to do get a public mobile number without having to get a number from another mobile provider and then transfer to Public?

you can select a new number from the list available OR you can port in from old network. That's about it.

Yes, they have a choice of picking up a new number from here or transferring in.

Don't forget to use a referral code to get a $10 credit after signing up.
