$40 / 4GB Phone Plan

Hey Guys,

So when Public Mobile introduced the $40 / 4GB plan, I was with Fido. Fido offered the same deal to avoid people switching.

I have the following:

- Unlimited Province Wide Calling

- Unlimited International Texts

- 4GB Internet

- Call Display & Voicemail

- 1000 International Long Distance Minutes to 8 Selected Countries

Fido increased our plan to $45 a month, however I complained and they gave me a $5 credit for 9 months.

I was wondering what has Public Mobile has done regarding this plan. Is anyone reporting any price increases to the CRTC?

Lets start a movement here to take down the carriers from playing the bait and swtich game with us like we are idiots. Lets show them who is really the boss in this market!

@Double_J, you are two weeks late for this topic. They tried it withdrew the price increase (after a huge uprising and CCTS complaints) and moving on.

@Double_J, you are a couple of dollars short and a couple of week's late. The price increase was removed. However, the incentive to leave was retained. In fact, there were two betterments to the exit strategy. The first one was rather covert with it not being officially released. The most recent one two days ago was sent to all affected customers. Everybody I have spoken to at Koodo, be it customer service agents, supervisors, people who work the booths all sing the to the same hymn book, we do not change plans and price on the customer. I have done my due dilligence to verify this statement. From what I can tell, there does appear to be merit in the statement.

Rogers/Fido does raise prices annually unless on contract. However, threats of migrating to the competition does work.

@will13am actually: this is a really good point that has largely gone overlooked in the discussions here. People are wondering, will PM increase prices down the road? Will Koodo? How do I know which one to bet on for the short, medium, and long term?? Well, at least with Koodo--as much as I hate the Loyalty & Retention Dance--at least we will have the opportunity to try that, should the prices go up in the future. I hadn't really considered that. Appologies if this has been discussed already but as I dont recall seeing much/any mention of it, I thought it's worth pointing out.

I've seen prices at PM gradually increase over a few years. But not terribly much.

I'm a light-data user. For $90/90-days I get 1GB 4G data, with a new plan I could get 1.5GB of 3G data at the same price or 1.5GB of 4G data for ~$5 more per month. And maybe I could shave a little more out of it with one of the promo packages.

Mid-data users seem similarly affected. The big price jacks have been on heavy-data, where customers always pay a premium. And even these plans still maintain rough parity with competitor offerings.

PM's prices are still better than any competitor, overall - they only get beat from time to time (and for a limited time) by killer promos, or by calling "zones" (which can be a great deal inside "zone" limits, not great at all outside them). I can understand the complaining - especially when we see what's advertised in USA and Europe - but prices in Canada are what they are with the Big Three (and a Baby) in charge, and while they haven't decreased in Canada (like they have elsewhere) they haven't really increased all that much either.

I realize that this is an old post - No we are not idiots - so let's play their game and keep porting carriers back and forth in order for them to keep us -forcing them to give us good ----deals.

Sorry - I must have made a typo somewhere -- $40 for 15GB at 4G speeds.
