No, you don't need to change the number and you can save tax

tax is charged based on where the phone number's area code belongs to , not your address (adress on My Account is just for PM's record only)

you can buy vouchers from local stores (which they charge you AB tax rate), then load voucher into My Account or via *611

just remember that anyone with plans that don't include Canada wide calling ...could be subject to tolls whenever they try to call your AB number.

Vouchers from where? What stores sell PM vouchers? Would you then lose the auto top up $ ?

@Tsawwassen as long as Autopay is enabled , you get the $2 top up rewards, you don't actually need to use the CC

you can buy vouchers from most stores around. But best to get it from SDM/London Drug/711/Shell as their vouchers can be used instantly. Vouchers from other stores could have a wait time of 24 hous

Most cell plans do include Canada wide and/or North America wide calling ---however not sure about land lines.

Excuse my ignorance .. but have never used vouchers ... so Vouchers are not PM specific? So one can buy a voucher and use it for payment for other things? Surely there must be a charge for vouchers that would offset the tax savings.

@Tsawwassen voucher is vendor specific. So, when you head to the cashier, you need to tell them clearly you want a Public Mobile voucher. The voucher can then be only used for Public Mobile and nowhere else, not even Koodo or Telus

That is correct. Your taxes are based on area code not your address provided to PM.

once you bought payment vouchers, dial 611 to add them to your account for next renewal.

If you are still on old Rewards program and have Autopay enabled...you'll still get the $2 Reward.

Never voluntarily opt outta Rewards in favour of Points.

Vouchers are basically credits for service- nothing more.

Bear in mind, however, if you are going to purchase large amounts of vouchers in Alberta to eventually load onto your public mobile account, if you decide to switch to another mobile service provider, you're out the money for those vouchers unless you can sell them privately.

HI @Tsawwassen most gas stations have vouchers for sell. Check it out. They charge you only local tax, so, you save a bit of it

Paying with pm vouchers to save the pst will only work if you purchase vouchers in Alberta, NWT, Nunavut or the Yukon. Taxes on vouchers are added at the point of sale according to their locale. So in Ontario vouchers still have 8% pst and 5% gst added to the voucher amount. The only other way around this is if you are able to order pm vouchers from an out of province retailer that has no physical presence in your province.

When CCS offered pm vouchers for sale or better yet discounted by up to 20% off those of us quick enough to place an order before they were sold out and lived outside of Ontario were pleasantly surprised to see only 5% gst charged on the invoice. That added an additional 7% to 10% savings on top of the discounted voucher price.

Why would I move if I may just get an Alberta area code and save? On a $40 plan that would give a $3.20 saving / month --- or $38/year.
