I recently switched over to Public Mobile. My phone is a Samsung Galaxy A12 Nacho, and I'm on the $15/month 3G plan. Both my data and my texts (sending and receiving) work fine, but I cannot send calls, receive calls, or access my voicemail. I did some research and believe it's because the specs of my phone are only compatible with one of the 3G frequencies Public Mobile uses.

Is it worth trying to use a 4G plan on Public Mobile (where my phone is compatible with 2 of the 6-ish frequencies), or should I give up and look for a different carrier?

Where did you source the phone? If it was bought locally then it should be fine. The reason why I suggest your phone is fully compatible is that there's only 2 bands that calls run on, bands 2 and 5 on 3G. Pretty much all phones carry both of these bands.
