Voicemail Notification

I have setup my voicemail with a greeting and tested it, but when a message is left, I receive no SMS or email notification that one has arrived. What do I need to do to activate voicemail notifications?

not so sure if there is notifications as SMS or email.Mine just shows the voicmail icon is highlighted on my iPhone. Maybe non-apple have other options.

@whewison normally, it is the phone itself set up the notification. Check your phone setting.

PM does not provide SMS not email notification on recorded vmail.

See if your phone has that feature.

For some reason, voicemail notifications don't work properly on Public. Mine almost never work. Support looked into it, we went through everything on phone and they reset things in account and it didn't change anything in the end.

@umnikke8 i am curious if it is a device settings. Did you try to put your PM sim card in another phone??

@softech no other phone to try. Notifications worked fine when used with Telus previously, they stopped after switching to Public. Other than switching SIM, nothing changed. There is something goofy with Public's voicemail config - the faulty notification, the mangled visual voicemail. The other day I caught something new: there was a spam called, I ignored it and let it go to voicemail. A few minutes later the notification beep happened on the phone and the display lit up, I saw some animation like it was drawing a new notification on screen, but then it disappeared before I could see what it was. Went and checked and there was new voicemail from the spam call. Seems likely the phone was starting a voicemail notification, but then cancelled it for some reason.

seem like it could be an issue for those coming from providers with Visual Voicemail. People usually need to disable it before changing provider to avoid it

one way to try to fix is to reset the iPhonw, but I am not an iPhone guy and cannot confirm that it will work for sure

But if you have everything backup on iCloud, try it. Reset it but not restore your setting from iCloud yet, test the VM notification before restoring

@softech I didn't have Visual Voicemail with Telus, but perhaps just because they supported it this happens you think? I've gone through and reset everything on the phone, short of entirely wiping it.
