I am interested in getting the Galaxy A9 Pro due to its battery size.

Will that phone work with Public Mobile?

do you have a link to the product page with its specs? i think there are a couple versions.

as long as it is unlocked and has teh correct bands it shoudl work.

the bans should include (copied from @sheytoon post from in this thread https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/Getting-Started/What-are-the-exact-Bands-PM-supports-on-the-Telus-HSPA-4G/td-p/182386)

I know one of the bands is very important to have (ie main one) but cant remember which one

3G UMTS/WCDMA/HSPA: B2, B5

4G LTE: B2, B4, B5, B7, B12/B17, B13, B29, B30

4G LTE B66 will be coming eventually.

B40 (and B42/43) is for a separate TDD network and not used in FDD. B30 is the FDD-equivalent, which is used for mobile subscribers.

B29 is only for CA, and does not affect coverage.

For minimum LTE coverage, you need B5, B12/B17, B4. One of those bands is always guaranteed to be at all locations. Any other bands will only help with speed.

Also, only voice is on 3G. Texting is delivered via the LTE RAN.

From what I recall, B4 is the most widely used LTE band for the Telus network which we use. In looking at specs on the web, again depending on what sub-model you have (SM-A9000??), I'm not seeing B4 as supported by this device so will likely impact your LTE connection outside of city centers and in particular locations.

Perhaps our resident expert @sheytoon can weigh in with his thoughts to confirm this.

B4 is the most important LTE band. If the phone has B4 LTE, then there should be LTE coverage in > 90% of the areas. I ran a check on willmyphone work and this phone does not have B4 LTE. The model in the database was SM-A9000 (China). Unless OP has a different variant not on the database, this phone will work but with a big asterisk on LTE capability.

It depends which version you have.

From Samsung India:

2G GSM

GSM850, GSM900, DCS1800, PCS1900

3G UMTS

B1(2100), B2(1900), B4(AWS), B5(850), B8(900)

4G FDD LTE

B1(2100), B2(1900), B3(1800), B4(AWS), B5(850), B7(2600), B8(900), B17(700), B28(700)

4G TDD LTE

B38(2600), B40(2300)

India version should be fine based on these specs.

I was looking at the version SM-A910FS/DS. The specs are found on the link below:

Which seems to be able to work on the LTE network ... but when I go to the site here:

It says it doesn't work ...

So now I am really confused... does it work on LTE or not?

According to the specs in the first link you posted,SIM slot one does support the Telus UMTS frequencies and LTE bands 4,7 and 17, so this particular model will work with a Public Mobile SIM card.

However, if you put your PM SIM into slot 2 it will not work, you'll need a SIM card that works on the Rogers 2G GSM network for slot 2.

I personally think frequencycheck.com is not reliable based on its statement that Public Mobile supports the 2G GSM network, which is not the case. The Rogers network is running GSM, Telus/Bell towers are not supporting the GSM protocol.

Be very careful with third party websites. They are often inaccurate with their information.
