Group MMS participant limit?

This is sort of a pre-sales question....my daughter has freedom mobile and got added to a text group with 15 people in it. She has a Google pixel 6a and has no problem sending messages in smaller groups, but apparently freedom mobile has a limit of 10 people in a group text/MMS conversation. I'm wondering if that problem would be resolved if I switch her to Public Mobile.

I have public mobile and I don't really want to text 10+ people just to test if it works, but if no one knows the answer I guess I'll try that next. Just wondering what the limit is for Public Mobile? And not like iMessage-only kind of limit, a limit for groups with a mix of android and iPhones.

I think the limit is also 10 here

You might need to use some 3rd party tools like Whatsapp which have a higher limit

if she can get iphone using imessage group has a limit 32 of messages can be send.

whatsapp has a group limit 512 message

I can't find that written online about WhatsApp, but I looked at Signal. It seems like it has a higher limit, but that's just for signal-only groups. "Insecure MMS" groups on signal are limited to 10. https://support.signal.org/hc/en-us/articles/360007319331-Group-chats

@Greg1 - 10 recipients in a group MMS does seem to be common with what I see online.

It would be curious to know what provider's are some of the other 15 people in the group with?

Yeah, it may be annoying to choose 15 of your contacts and test this, since you may need to follow up with them and give them a heads up of the test and see if all are received. BUT, it would be a great test.

the whatsapp limit mentioned about was wrong.. not 512 but 256

You can create a WhatsApp group with up to 256 participants.

@Greg1 I know I've received messages via SMS in a group with 13 other numbers. I'm assuming everyone in the group receives the message but have no idea if that is the case as I've never thought to ask, plus I only use group texting occasionally.

Hello, Greg!

I found the answer to your question about the limit for a group SMS/MMS conversation.
A specialist from tech support advised about 20 participants are allowed to join a chat group.
For MMS Group messaging the total number of participants allowed is 20 for Public Mobile as well as our other TELUS brands.

If customers are using RCS (Rich Communication Services) or iMessage they may have larger limits but that is based on the device manufacturer as these are not considered MMS messages but use data/Wi-Fi.

[thought actual # more use than 'contact CSAs' ........... Luddite]
