Yes, US add-on text/talk is unlimited. But be prepared for add-on not to work perfectly as US A is decommissioning 3G network. Read below links!

That's a bit scary about the phone basically becoming useless in the States. Does Public/Telus have a plan to address this?
However I was in the States in April? Do you know if it has become worse since then? As my phone is my only form of communication whilst there I'm a bit concerned by this knowledge but also REALLY APPRECIATE you giving me the heads up about it 🙂

@TFC hi I would not depend on it at this time your best bet is to look into a travel sim,Amazon has many to choose from

@TFC , VoLTE adoption should be in the works. Other competing brands have actually stopped offering US roaming where VoLTE is not available yet.

Yes, travel sim card is a better and more reliable option. Then you can make calls and receive text using VoIP app such as TextNow and Fongo. The app will let you pick a 10 digits number. then just give your friend the new number and you can make and receive calls and text on the app
