topic Assigned number goes somewhere else in Get Support

Just activated a new account and got a new number.

When dialing out from the phone, it will show the correct number on the receiver's call display.

However when calling to that number, it actually goes to another person and doesn't ring on the phone!

When asking that stranger what their number is, it is in fact the number I was assigned. So it looks like Public Mobile is giving out other people's numbers! What the heck?

@Berticus Yeah, unfortunately, sounds like you've been assigned a number that is already with another customer.

Log into your self serve account and click the Quick Link on the right hand side of page, then Click Change SIM and then you should get a tab to Change Number. You can select a number from the city you are in or the next closest one. Then log out and reboot phone. PM permits 4 number changes free per 30 days.

edit: you can refresh the list of available numbers until you find one you like.

edit: Update re Quick Link option: PM has disabled the Quick Link option in the self serve account and I did ask the community manager, last Friday, if this was a temporary feature or not, so far, there's been no response to my question.
