Is your phone more than 4 years old? You can call your previous provider and ask for the unlocking code. You will need to give them the IMEI # of your device. Providers are required to give you the code upon request, without delay and free of charge.

When I switched from Bell to Public Mobile, I discovered that my phone had been locked to Bell (even though I had purchased the phone unlocked, it had locked itself to the carrier of the first sim card I used).

I went to the Samsung website and used their Chat Support to help me. It was very easy and free. I just needed to provide my IMEI# and phone model. They gave me a network unlock pin, and right away my phone worked with Public Mobile.
