Thanks for all the help. I broke down and bought a new SIM card and installed it, and that seems to have been the problem as it now works. $10. I should have done that long ago. On the plus side, I learned a few things.

Thanks again.🙂

I has this appear on the screen of my Samsung Rugby flip phone 2 weeks ago for half a day, then it went back to normal. Now the message is back, for several days, and indeed I can't use the phone. The SIM is a mini. Of course I can take it to a shop, but I'd rather sort it out if I can. I'm wondering if such a problem is more likely to be a result of the SIM, or perhaps the circuitry of the phone; after all, the phone has several years on it. (SIM is perhaps 3 years old.) Thanks for any suggestions.

If it does then it could be the phone.

You can bring it in a shop and get a free diagnostic.

Gently clean with Q-tip and dampened with a little rubbing alcohol. Does the sim card fit snugly in the sim slot as a little tape or a paper shim will help secure it if the sim card does not have a good connection.

To contact customer support click below:

https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/notes/composepage/note-to-user-id/22437

To pre-verify your account include your full name, address, email, phone # and 4 digit acct pin #.

Thanks for all those replies. I tried the SIM in my wife's phone, then realized that we are not on the same network, so I suppose that it would not work anyway. However, we'll never know since the SIM does not fit. I will have to find another phone to borrow.

I am a bit preoccupied at the moment so I will have to leave this file for at least one day & then work on all the suggestions. Thanks again.
