US text addon

My texting doesn't seem to be working in the US after purchasing the add-on. My airplane mode is on because I don't want to use my data.

@susellin you cannot turn on Airplane mode. Enabling Airplane mode disable all the connections. If you don't want you use your data, you turn off Mobile data and you disable Roaming Data

You need to turn off Airplane mode and manually select either T-Mobile or AT&T

@susellin , airplane mode disconnects your phone from the network. So you won't be able to text. What you need to do to preserve data is to disable roaming data. Note that this will allow SMS but will block MMS. MMS uses unmetered mobile data.

@susellin Yes, Disable Airplane mode

Best is to to go Mobile Data and turn it off

@susellin if you don't need data , turn it off completely

iOS:

To turn Cellular Data on or off, go to Settings > Cellular.

Turn off Cellular Data by swiping the switch with that label to the left.

Android:
1 Swipe down from the screen to reveal the Quick panel.
2 Tap the Mobile data icon to deactivate. .

1 Go to "Settings", then tap "Connections".
2 Tap "Data usage".
3 Tap the switch to activate or deactivate "Mobile data".

Ok, thanks. I also don't see a US mobile network. Shouldn't there be one displayed?

@susellin Make sure Airplane mode is really disabled

then change the Network selection from Automatic to Manual

if still not see any network, try reboot your phone.

Seems you may be using iMessage or Chat Features?

Turn off Airplane mode (so back to regular mode), and turn OFF Data.

If you an iPhone user, and use iMessage, iMessage is used over wifi or data. So to work around not needing wifi or data, go to the settings of your messages app and enable both SMS and MMS (edit, if you want to send/receive MMS than you will need to turn on Data to allow these to go through).

If you are android, you may have the same issue if your Chat Features is turned on, so in this case, try turning Chat Features off.

Disable your Chat Features:

Open Messages
Tap More options > Settings > Chat features
Turn Enable chat features off
