I have 500 international mins that include Canada and the USA. I am in the us and it won’t let me make a phone call. Says I don’t have the package to make a call

That's because it only works while in Canada. You'll need to buy roaming add-ons to use Public in the US.

Thats for calls the originate in Canada. You need one of the 10 Day US Roaming talk text data add-ons available for us while in USA.

Hi Samiam, the 500 intl minutes are only for calls you make within Canada. If you are currently in the US, you would have to get one of the 10 day US roaming package add ons. Many different options to choose from.

All current market plans on offer by pm only have features that work while you are in Canada. Public mobile only offers roaming add ons for use in the US only for a period of 10 days that run on a 24 hour clock from the time of purchase. They expire 240 hours after purchase. The only exception is the ability to recieve incoming SMS texts on your pm phone number while in the US.

With the decommissioning of the 3G network by pm's roaming partners at&t and T-Mobile as soon as July 1st 2022 there will be an inability for pm customers to use their voice call services as well while roaming in the US without access to a 3G network.

The best workaround for these issues would be to download a voip provider like textnow that offers free calling and texting on WiFi and mobile data. Purchase a 10 day US Roaming data add on. You can receive incoming pm SMS texts. You can send and receive MMS texts. You can send SMS texts on text now along with send and receive voice calls. MMS texting works but doesn't count against your roaming data. Calls and outgoing SMS on textnow will only use your mobile data while away from WiFi. A US Roaming data add on will provide you with all of your services on your phone albeit in a slightly round about way.

That makes no sense if it says I have the mins available to use. If it says I have International calling including Canada and the US then I should be able to use those min while in the us. I already have Canada long distance as part of my plan

@Samiam4265 PM is a Canadian base provider and hence when it talks about service, it is talking about service in Canada. When you are in US, you need to have roaming service, this is normal for all carrier.

Also, it said clearly in the add-on page that Calls must originate from Canada. for those international calling

You need one of these add-ons in order to have service in US

US Roaming for 10 day packages

Unlimited U.S. Talk, Text and 250MB Data Bundle = $20

Unlimited U.S. Talk and Text Bundle = $15

Unlimited U.S. Talk Only = $8

Unlimited U.S. Text Only = $8

Buying an add-on is two step process. Let us know if you need more info how to purchase and add US add-on.

What you have works FROM Canada only.

HI @Samiam4265 International minutes does not mean you can call from anywhere in the world. Rogers/Bells/Telus all use these terms and mean the same thing 🙂

The 500 min of international long distance calling add on is the free holiday gift from pm to its customers for the "more is merrier" campaign. The US and Canada long distance minutes have been included as a courtesy to customers who would otherwise not be able to use the gifted minutes if they don't already have friends or family overseas.

You will also find that you can use these minutes (while in Canada)to call all of pm's international calling destinations listed except the Philippines.
