As long as you don't allow your account to go without paid service for more than 89/90 days your phone number and account are safe. Where is your arrival in Canada? Canadian Cell Supplies currently is selling pm sim cards for $3. They ship for free across Canada via Canada Post within 5 business days but they have a retail location in North York and a pick up location in Mississauga. You could time your order for your arrival in Canada.

All you need to do once you acquire a new Sim card is use the “Change Sim” feature in self serve.

If you want to keep the same number, do not activate the new SIM or a new number will be assigned.

As long as your service is not suspended you will be OK. Even if service get suspended for less than 90 days AND you have access to your self-service account service can be restored and you can proceed with SIM switch.

You would need new SIM card and then using self-service replace SIM

You could order new SIM from PM or other retailer but it might be complicated to get it shipped. Even in Canada delivery could be 2-3 weeks or longer.

Ideally if somebody in Canada could get new PM SIM card for you either from PM or other source and then you can switch it easily from wherever you are or when you return.

I'd definitely go the CCS route whether you pick it up yourself or get it shipped it is really quick.
