@rossputin

I am a fan of a dual SIM phone. With pm the advantage when travelling only applies in the US since they do not offer any services elsewhere in the world. But if you were to have an extended stay in the US you would be able to continue to recieve pm texts but have a mint mobile plan/sim card in the other sim card slot.

In Canada you could have a second account that you use for data in the second slot. It could be with pm or another provider such as the offerings by Shaw or fido's data account.

Even taking advantage of CCS offer of a 5gb bonus data add on with the discounted activation bundle of the $25 plan means you would pay $20+tax ($21 total since you are in bc) and recieve a total of 7gb of data add ons and 500 international long distance calling minutes. You would refer yourself to recieve a $10 bonus referral credit for that new account that you could then downgrade to the $15 once you recieve the 5gb data add on.

You would also benefit from the $30 bonus referral credit. Taken as whole you come out $19 ahead of the game. Suspend the new account until the extra data is needed or reactivate every 90 days. With the autopay reward the cost to maintain the account is $39 per 360 days. Or with the above promos a total out of pocket cost of $20.

This is how a dual SIM phone can benefit you...

I own the A52 5G my self and I've been happy with its performance, even though it's a bit overkill since PM doesn't have 5G access, heck none of the 2nd/3rd tear brands have 5G access, only the parent brands do.

But could also depend on the plan being paid for and whether one just couldn't resist a promo.

I couldn't resist a 5gb one-time promo a couple years ago. So I use that account as my "data" account. I'm a low usage user. I was getting close to finishing the last Xmas 2gb before going back to the still-present 5gb promo data. And now the new 2gb.

My 3 plans are all on the old $10 plan.

Personally I hope to have a dual SIM phone as I have a Data only account too.. but Dual SIM phones are usually not Canadian model and they lack some bands and PM reception could be affected.

I bought my dual SIM A3 from foreign electronics* in Vancouver (conveniently around the corner) which assures that it is compatible with Canadian providers and with a warranty.

*After @Anonymous 's and my fact finding mission to Dubai of course....he just took a few more years to pull the trigger on his purchase!😃

That seller really could be anyone, and while that's not necessarily a bad thing, the dual SIM card feature gives away that this person isn't an authorized distributor. That doesn't mean that there's anything wrong with this device, but it does mean that Samsung never intended for this product to be sold in Canada. Compatibility with the network may very well be worse and the language setting options often differ. There will also be no manufacturer's warranty, and Samsung Canada won't provide any type of technical support for this product.
