One of the reasons I became a public mobile customer was for the international texting. Once again I am disappointed with my services. Can you tell me why I couldn't text while out of the country? Why Why Why?

The service is for when you are in CANADA. You can purchase a roaming add-on for the US only. All plans listed state the services you get while you are connected to the PM network in Canada.

in Canada/U.S. Add (+1 or 1 ) in front of the any area code,
international Add ( 011 ) in front of the any area code,

for picture messaging receiving/sending you need to turn data on, to send a picture/video messaging in international, and if your data is off and your home internet Wi-Fi is on is not going through the messaging, to going through turn your data on and send a picture/video..

out Canada you need to Purchase Add-Ons through Self Serve (publicmobile.ca)

for only offer service in U.S. Roaming (publicmobile.ca)

@bovaj2 - oh, sorry if you thought you could use Public Mobile services outside of North America.

But you can send and receive international texts whilst you are in Canada on any inmarket plan, so will you be back in Canada to use these services?

Not that everyone reads them, however Point#6 in all the plan's terms and conditions reads:

Talk, text and data services refer to services offered while connected to the Telus/Public Mobile network. For service when not connected to the Telus/Public Mobile network, a roaming package must be purchased. Calls must originate from Canada to the US.

@HALIMACS - yeah, you got search that green area under the Terms and Conditions section. Darn, fine print!

Guess, PM is trying to make the "Offer details" section simple under each plan description. But I am sure others assume this may be the case as well as first glance.

Hi @bovaj2 International texting means you can text to any countries FROM Canada. This term is used by all carriers

If you are away from Canada, the service you want is Roaming. PM only provides roaming add-ons for US only. Also, no provider will will include roaming text from any countries. Some might include Call or Text from US for very expensive plan

If you need roaming when you are out of Canada. Try to use VoIP app. Some good ones are Fongo, TextNow.

@bovaj2, as many have suggested you would have to buy US Roaming Add-on's if you want to use Public Mobile to place calls from the USA. Your current plan works in Canada only. And if you want, you can actually shop around to see other carriers in the USA offer cheaper plans and you can buy a SIM card while in the USA and install it in your phone while you are at USA. Do NOT lose your Public Mobile SIM card. You will have to swap the SIM card back when you come back to Canada. Be sure to turn off your cellphone before swapping SIM cards.

And as I have suggested in another thread, you can also call from any of the online chat app like skype or wechat if your plan includes lots of data or you have access to readily available wifi. And since you will be in USA, you might even be able to apply for an account with Google Hangout and place calls using Hangout.

@esjliv I always get confused when I am traveling outside of Canada as to whether I can receive or make outbound calls and what do I pay for what? It's good that the Public Mobile plans are good for entire Canada otherwise you would have to figure out the inbound/outbound calls when you are just outside of your home province.

HI @Zyl PM did try to be cheap and only offer Provincial Callings. Glad Lucky and Chatr not follow and PM has to take it off the shelf. But it creates enough confusing for those who signed up the Provincial plan
