I try to look for friends in real life now, so I couldn't tell you how to make friends on here.

Also doesn't help that it looks like they've removed the feature altogether.

Serious, I am curious how to add friend in the new layout (actually, I wonder how to do in the old one, too)

It looks like PM removed that feature in latest Community update.

I can see my old 'friends' I added before but there is no option to add new.

What for you would use 'friends'?

That option no longer exists. Previously there was a setting in private messages allowing you to "friend" or "ignore" each member in their private message or in their profile.

So, ignore is gone , too. I guess that could be a bigger lost than Friend?

Scratch all that. You can friend or ignore a user by clicking on the settings icon for each member. Click on the settings icon on the left beside the send a new message to manage your contacts and friends. I would have thought someone would have explored these options by now?!!🤔

You are correct.

You can actually add friend while being in private mail but future friend has to send you private message first. Even though it says 'added to contacts', friend will show up in 'friend' list.
